Our Journey to
GlassRoots Gallery
In 1998, we opened our first shop
in Cape May, New Jersey. It was mainly my stained glass studio with a tiny gift
shop on the front porch. In 2000 we moved our growing business to a larger
storefront that we purchased closer to town. Come 2003, the store had grown to
its potential.
With retirement on my mind,
opportunity knocked yet again and we moved to our current location in Stone
Harbor, New Jersey. With this last relocation GlassRoots Gallery was
established thanks to the help and support of many talented glass artists from
across the country. We maintain a relationship with our artists based on the
integrity that we consider paramount as ambassadors to each artist whose work
is showcased in our gallery. We enjoy traveling and often encounter new talent
along the way. We support education in the glass arts and currently are
mentoring Michael Mills who is our gallery manager as well as an aspiring glass
artist. He most recently attended workshops this past winter at the prestigious
Corning Museum of Glass studio in Corning,
New York.
Our staff maintains a very
relaxed and friendly atmosphere where the public is welcome to inquire about
the techniques used in the creation of pieces they admire. As of the 2007
summer season, we have expanded the gallery to the second floor. This will
allow us to bring in more artists, including space for the glass artists of the
Wheaton Arts and Cultural Center in
Millville, New Jersey. We hope to help aid in the education about the history
of American glass in southern New Jersey.
Whether you're a collector of
fine art glass, or just window shopping on your way to the beach, we look
forward to meeting you.
